LONG BEACH, Calif.-– LBS Financial Credit Union celebrated Miracle Jeans Day to help raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network. LBS Financial employees had the opportunity to trade their work attire for jeans by donating $5 or more, and total employee donations amounted to $1,000. LBS Financial matched the funds dollar for dollar towards the cause, making a final donation to Children’s Miracle Network of $2,000.

REDLANDS, Calif.–Arrowhead Credit Union’s ArrowHeart Team of 147 walkers was amongst the three largest teams at the event, and together they contributed more than $10,000 to the 7th Annual Believe Walk. The team walked together from State St. to the Redlands Bowl in matching ArrowHeart team shirts. Spouses, children, and even pets joined the team for the 5k. After they crossed the finish line, they joined the rest of the walkers at the Believe Bash to celebrate. Arrowhead Credit Union encouraged employees to participate by paying their registration fee.
AUSTIN, Texas– Greater TEXAS FCU (GTFCU) won the Team Spirit Award at the Austin Chapter of Credit Unions (ACCU) 2014 Bowling Tournament and Cake Auction. The GTFCU winning team wore a collaborative Texas Flag costume, had the flag “wave” every time a team member got a strike and cheered on those around them in their bowling efforts.
BEL AIR, Md.--Freedom FCU has named Joshua Rice as the winner of the “Core Values Award” for the third quarter of 2014. This award, based on employee nominations and chosen by a volunteer committee of employees, recognizes Freedom employees who continuously demonstrate support of the Credit Union’s core values. Rice has been with Freedom for two years, joining as a Contact Center Representative. “In this short time, Josh has made a great name for himself, and recently advanced to a positon in Operations Support where he has quickly made an impact,” the credit union said in a statement.
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Peach State FCU staff gathered for training and a combined effort to provide a service to their community, with more than 100 staff members packed 1,000 bags of food for children from local elementary schools who benefit from “Nothing But the Truth” based in Lawrenceville. The effort will provide weekend meals and snacks for the 475 children that the organization serves. The bags of food will be sent to 26 Title One schools in Gwinnett and Barrow counties where guidance counselors identify students who may not have anything to eat over the weekend.
