RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – CO-OP Financial Services said it will pay a shareholder dividend of $26.1 million for fiscal year 2016, raising to $393.7 million the total patronage amount made available by CO-OP since becoming a cooperative in 1996, the company reported.

REGINA, Saskatchewan–While credit unions in the U.S. continue to operate under a federal tax exemption, that isn’t the case in other countries, where CUs are in a constant give-and-take over the taxes they pay. Case in point are credit unions in Saskatchewan, which are facing a phased-in provincial tax increase to begin in 2017.

RALEIGH, N.C.–State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) said it completed its tenth season of helping members with their tax preparation needs, and SECU tax preparers filed over 109,000 federal and North Carolina state income tax returns, with participating members receiving more than $153 million in refunds and saving an estimated $13 million in tax preparation fees.
