PASADENA, Texas-LEVEL5 is overseeing construction of a new branch for Gulf Coast Educators FCU here that is expected to be complete by the end of 2014. The credit union partnered with LEVEL5 in 2012 to help develop and implement a retail growth strategy.  The new branch will utilize an open floor plan concept to allow for better member interaction and engagement, similar to how it operate at its main office in Pasadena. Rumor has it that over half of credit union CEOs will retire in the next 10 years. On average, a credit union is lost in a merger every day. One of the leading reasons credit unions merge is loss of leadership. To me, leadership continuity is like leaving the dinner table. No CEO should leave the post without making sure that everything is in order. Every board should make sure that there is someone, or at least a formal process in place, to insure leadership continuity.

LIVONIA, Mich.- Zeal Credit Union participated in a variety of activities and fundraisers during International Credit Union Week, including on International CU Day itself, inviting members to participate in “Shop for Miracles.”  The one-day Credit Unions for Kids campaign helped raise funds for Beaumont Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, every time members used their Zeal Credit Union-issued credit or debit card. Othe activities sponsored included an online silent auction to benefit charities, Zombie Mental Math Adventure for kids at a local library, special giveaways, a free shred day, and food collections.

WASHINGTON—Large banks now have stronger balance sheets as they emerge from the financial crisis, but work remains to be done in adjusting business models to reflect new economic realities of lower profitability and greater regulatory requirements, according to a new report from the International Monetary Fund.
