FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.—Community Choice Credit Union here is attempting to solve a mystery.
A week ago it received a piece of mail addressed to a branch manager that included $1,000. Along with the cash was a cryptic message, “Know the clue. Know the who. Anonymous 1679,” along with the words “fix the sign or the charity of your choice.”
The credit union told Hometownlife.com, which first reported the story, that the credit union’s sign is in need of repair, work scheduled to be done as part of an upcoming remodeling project. Hometownlife.com quoted staff as saying they initially intended to respect the donor’s wish to be anonymous, but that the riddle-nature of the message has given it “permission” to attempt to figure it out.
