LONG BEACH, Fla.– LBS Financial Credit Union partnered with three local school districts over the summer to collect school supplies for the 2014-2015 school year.  The program, promoted during summer months at all of LBSFCU’s six branch locations, via marketing materials, newspaper advertisement, Facebook page and on its website, raised more than $1,300, which the credit union then matched.

MADISON, Wis.—Digital marketing is a significantly overlooked path to growth by credit unions, according to one analyst, who believes digital can be more powerful than all of a CU’s branches combined.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn—Concerns over compliance and risk management among credit unions and banks is up nearly 30% from two years ago, according to a new survey released by Wolters Kluwer. The company’s Regulatory & Risk Management Indicator began with a baseline score of 100 in January 2013, when Wolters Kluwer Financial Services surveyed nearly 400 U.S. banks and credit unions around their ability to manage compliance obligations and risk. It has risen to a score of 128 following the company’s latest survey of more than 300 financial institutions in August.

HAUPPAUGUE, N.Y.--Teachers FCU is hosting its first-ever “TFCUniversity Business Clinic” at its headquarters here. The first series event is entitled, “Secrets to Building Your Business on Long Island” and is designed to “bring together Long Island business owners and leaders to learn about cutting-edge topics and trends needed to have a successful business.” The credit union intends to host the business clinics on a quarterly basis. The first event featured keynoter Susan Axelrod, founder of Love & Quiches, the highly successful company she started in the kitchen of her home 40 years ago. The event will also include a panel discussion moderated by Henry Bramwell, president of Visionary. Panelists will include Clay Darrohn, CEO of Fishbat; Barry Shorten, co-founder of Alcott HR, and David Jacobson, CEO of GrooveCar.
