ATLANTA—InterContinental Hotels Group has confirmed that the data breach it reported in February is larger than the company initially stated.
The hotel chain is now reporting that the data breach impacted more than 1,000 of its properties. KrebsOnSecurity set the number at 1,175 locations. As CUToday.info reported, InterContinental Hotels Group initially stated that the breach hit only 12 properties.
The breach impacted credit and debit card data—names, card numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes were compromised for customers who used their cards between August and December 2016.
IHG is offering a state-by-state lookup tool for consumers to check if hotels they visited were affected.
