Hotel Chain Says It Had A Data Breach; Debit, Credit Cards Affected

ATLANTA—InterContinental Hotels Group has confirmed that 12 of its properties have been hit with a data breach.

According to several reports, the breach impacted credit and debit card data—names, card numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes were compromised for customers who used their cards between August and December 2016.

The number of individuals affected has not been confirmed. Properties in Chicago, San Francisco, Aruba, Puerto Rico and Canada were among those affected.

Late last year InterContinental Hotels reported that it had hired a cybersecurity firm to investigate claims of a payment card breach at some of its U.S. hotels.
