MERRITT ISLAND, Fla.–Launch FCU here is the latest to report problems with member debit card accounts that have resulted in thieves gaining access to account numbers and making fraudulent charges.
The credit union reported it has been restricting transactions under $50 without the use of a PIN. Members have reported unauthorized transactions and purchases being made as far away as Houston.
It is the second credit union this week to report fraudulent charges taking place in Houston. As CUToday.info reported here, Sunlight FCU in Cody, Wyo., has been forced to suspend all of its members’ debit cards as the result of unauthorized transactions. It is in the process of reissuing member cards.
Launch FCU said it is uncertain how many member cards have been affected.
