HADLEY, Mass. —UMassFive College Credit Union has added the Buzz Points loyalty and rewards program to not only drive deeper member relationships but boost local business as well. The Buzz Points shop local program offers incentives to members who use their debit cards while shopping with local businesses. Members earn reward points while shopping at local and national merchants, but receive higher points when doing business with local businesses that are part of the program. “We were looking for a rewards program for them that we could use to support the community in some fashion,” said Jon Reske, vice president of marketing at the $389-million CU, in a published report.

MADISON, WIs.—The National Credit Union Foundation has named the winners of its 2015 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, considered to be the highest national honors in the U.S. credit union movement. Being recognized are the Iowa Credit Union League for Outstanding Organization, while Clarence Hall, Jr., the board chair and president/CEO of Issaquena County FCU; Bob Schumacher, the retired president/CEO of MountainCrest Credit Union and long-time host of the Herb Wegner Awards, and Mike Mercer, CEO of Georgia CU Affiliates have all won Lifetime Achievement Awards. 

The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards will be presented at a special dinner at the new Marriott Marquis on March 9, 2015, in conjunction with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C.
