MILWAUKEE—The growth in extreme weather events affecting broader portions of the U.S. has led more credit unions to take steps to construct buildings that can better withstand natural disasters, including making bigger investments to ensure one location will be standing even if all other branches are wiped out.

SEATTLE — BECU has announced plans to open financial centers in 2024 in Tacoma, Wash. and in the Ballinger neighborhood of Shoreline, Wash. Both locations will join over 60 existing financial centers in serving BECU’s more than 1.4 million members, BECU said.
