25,000 Thank You's to Our Readers--And Counting!

By Frank J. Diekmann

“Where in the world will you ever find enough news?”

Those words and sentences of similar sentiment were heard from more than one person approximately 200 or so years ago when I was involved in creating the first weekly news publication to serve the U.S. credit union community (and, no, it’s not the one you may be thinking of, there was another before that).

It was more than a fair question, and one I’ll admit I was asking myself and others as we prepared to roll the presses (yes, an actual printing press with ink and paper--and if that sounds all Colonial Williamsburg to you,  it’s still a thing, as you can watch here) with an initial run of 10,000 copies. And then another 10,000 the following week, and another…

So, imagine what the reaction would have been all those many years ago if I had predicted the day would come when we would be reporting more than 20 news items per weekday?

That’s exactly what we do at CUToday.info, as our Monday Feature story highlights. This week our Fresh Today section is publishing its 25,000th news report since this publication launched on Sept. 30, 2014.  25,000!

But Wait! There’s More!

And that’s just our Fresh Today section, which we distribute each morning via our free newsletter featuring that morning’s 15 news items that are, well, fresh today.

Via the other news sections in CUToday.info, including the Feature, the Boost, the Corner, the Neighborhood, the Market, the ’Tude, the Globe and the Vids, CUToday.info has delivered another 17,278 pieces of content, bringing the total through today to more than 42,000, or approximately 112 items per week.

It appears CUToday.info was a content creator before that was a thing.

Of course, the only real number that matters is the number one:

  • CUToday.info is number one when it comes to delivering news and resources to credit unions
  • Our ever-growing number of readers is the number-one reason we have had the extraordinary success we have enjoyed over the last seven years
  • The advertisers you see on CUToday.info have made us their number-one choice for reaching credit union decision-makers. Thanks to their generous support, CUToday.info has been free to readers since the day we launched, with no content locked behind a paywall. We appreciate you supporting these companies.

 A Great Big Thank You

On behalf of myself and Ray Birch, who reports most of the well-read Feature stories you see in CUToday.info, along with numerous other pieces of content, we want to offer at least 25,000 thank you’s for all the support and readership.

The question is no longer “Where in the world will you ever find enough news?” The question now—and every day—is how to best separate the noise from the news so as to best serve our readers.  As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions for stories that need to be reported and for how we might improve.
