EL PASO, Texas – evolve Federal Credit Union announced that Board Member Marcela Navarrete has been selected as one of the six "Women of Impact" in El Paso, Texas for 2016. This recognition has been bestowed on these women for their great local impact, their level of community involvement, and their wide reach of professional achievements. The award will include a mention in a special installment of El Paso Inc. as well as an award breakfast at the prestigious El Paso Country Club on September 28, 2016.
Marcela Navarrete graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor's degree in Business Accounting in 1989 and eventually became the first female Chief Financial Officer in the 50 year history of the El Paso Water Utilities. Prior to starting her career with the Utility in 1992, she worked for three years at a local public accounting firm, specializing in credit union audits. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Texas Society of CPA's and the Government Finance Officers Association. She has also served as the Treasurer for the non-profit corporation Keystone Heritage Park Association, a local organization responsible for the development of the Keystone Heritage Park on the City's behalf, since 2004.
