MADISON, Wis.--Members Development Company (MDC) and CU NextGen have announced that Kent Zimmer, formerly SVP of Operations for MDC, will be leaving MDC to be the CEO of CU NextGen.
MDC is a network of more than 70 credit unions and credit union organizations using pooled resources and shared knowledge to find real-world solutions to issues facing the industry now and in the future. CU NextGen is a new CUSO delivering next-generation technology to credit unions formed in a strategic partnership between MDC and ClaySys Technologies, an India-based technology company with expertise in automation, no-code app development, artificial intelligence, and enterprise IT consulting.
Zimmer was one of the driving forces in the creation of the new CUSO, the company said. “Kent really did an amazing job with launching CU NextGen. I can’t imagine trusting anyone else to pull this off after all the work he did in getting us up to this point. Of course, given how valuable Kent has been to MDC over the years, we will miss having him on staff. But we are also extremely proud to share in his accomplishments and happy to see him continue to excel in this exciting new venture,” said Jeff Kline, MDC’s CEO.
Joining MDC in 2013, Zimmer served as the director of finance before his promotion to SVP of operations last year. His duties included directing and expanding the NextUP program, which leads tomorrow’s credit union leaders through innovation workshops to create the industry’s next big ideas and then develop them into actionable project ideas.
"On behalf of MDC's Board, I'd like to say that the only thing that can match our expectations for CU NextGen is our confidence in Kent's ability to deliver on them. Over his years of dedicated service, the owners of MDC have benefited significantly from his thought leadership and terrific execution. We all owe Kent a debt of gratitude, and we wish him great success with CU NextGen," said Thomas Moore, EVP of BCU and MDC's Board Chair.
Zimmer’s move is effective September 1, 2020. “I’m extremely grateful to MDC for the opportunities and guidance I received during my time there,” said Zimmer. “The MDC staff, the board, the credit unions—these are people committed to helping credit unions succeed, and I enjoyed working with them all. I’m just glad that, because of MDC’s partnership with CU NextGen, our relationship will continue.”
