PORTLAND, Ore.–Young Credit Union People (YCUP) and individuals from all over Oregon and Washington joined forces, raising nearly $6,000 for Credit Unions for Kids in support of OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at their event, “Hops for Hope,” held at the Crowne Plaza in Portland, Oregon’s Downtown Convention Center.
“I think the event turned out great and we’re very pleased to have surpassed our $5,000 goal for our first-time event,” said Kym Sajovic, YCUP Board President. “We received a lot of positive feedback from attendees and look forward to hosting it again in 2018” said Sajovic.
Some 60 attendees participated in the occasion, which hosted Bottle Ring Toss and Bottle Grab events, and a silent auction offering items from local breweries and cider houses. All proceeds raised from the auctions and ticket sales went to Doernbecher.
“We're so proud of our partnership with YCUP of Oregon and SW Washington and what they were able to accomplish in the inaugural year of Hops for Hope,” said Joe Dearborn, senior director of the Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. “It’s inspiring as well, to see that so many young professionals from throughout the credit union community have embraced the CU4Kids program and are eagerly creating their own legacy of giving back.”
“Hops for Hope” was the final YCUP event held in 2017, marking a year of advocacy, networking, and volunteering gatherings, which touched hundreds of credit union professionals from all over the Pacific Northwest.
