FAIRBORN, Ohio–Wright-Patt Credit Union is celebrating the 500,000 members milestone.
WPCU began in the early 1930s when workers at Wright Field (now Wright-Patterson Air Force base) decided to chip in money to help one another through tough times. The shoebox this money was kept in, which they called “The Sunshine Fund,” would eventually become Wright-Patt Credit Union.
Now, more than 90 years after our credit union was founded, WPCU is still helping members through life, one member at a time,” said Tim Mislansky, WPCU President & CEO. “WPCU couldn’t make such a positive impact on so many lives without the genuine care our employees provide to our members. We believe everyone deserves a caring financial partner who builds hope and improves well-being.”
WPCU’s “500,000 Reasons to Celebrate” will also include a community food drive in each of their member center locations in Southwest and Central Ohio.
“This community food drive will build hope for ending hunger and support five food banks across the communities WPCU serves: The Foodbank, Second Harvest Food Bank, Shared Harvest Foodbank, Freestore Foodbank and Mid-Ohio Food Collective,” the credit union said.
“Wright-Patt Credit Union believes everyone in our community deserves access to a warm meal,” says Tracy Szarzi-Fors, SVP-marketing and business development for Wright-Patt Credit Union and executive director of the WPCU Sunshine Community Fund. “As the holiday season approaches, we invite everyone to build hope alongside us as we help ease food insecurity in our communities.”
