ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Beginning Feb. 7, Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) will kick off its sixth annual Polar Plunge Season. The series of five Polar Plunge events is the largest grossing fundraiser of the year for SOCO, and this year will be presented by Westerra Credit Union.
“It’s a natural fit for Westerra,” said Nancy Bunte, Westerra’s VP-Marketing and Public Relations, “as Westerra and Special Olympics Colorado have both been serving our school districts and our local communities for many years. “We want to build on that momentum as we work together to encourage others to support Special Olympics. We’re looking forward to the Special Olympics Colorado Polar Plunge Series in February as we launch our long-term partnership.”
This season’s flagship event, the “Splash & Dash,” will be hosted in the heart of Denver at City Park. The Splash & Dash (Feb. 28) kicks off at Noon with the 5K, followed by the Polar Plunge at 1 p.m. The event includes a beer garden, live music, food vendors, and fun for all ages. Participants (21 and older) will receive a free beer.
The other Polar Plunges will take place at the Aurora Reservoir, Horsetooth Reservoir in Ft. Collins, Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs, and the Boulder Reservoir.
