DENVER–Westerra Credit Union is celebrating its 90th anniversary after being founded by eight teachers with a mission to support their fellow educators.
As part of the milestone, Westerra said it will be reflecting on its rich history through various celebrations throughout the year, including the recent partnership with the Colorado Rockies for Teacher Appreciation Week to recognize the contributions of educators in the Denver metro area.
Since 1934, Westerra said it has been committed to helping all members prosper. It continues to uphold these founding principles while meeting the evolving needs of its diverse membership base.
“This is evident through the unveiling of various new technologies, products and locations this year,” the credit union said, including:
- Westerra’s Smart Money Checking account is an innovative way for members to earn money on their money by offering the opportunity to earn up to 6% APY on deposits.
- All Westerra cards are equipped with contactless technology and the ability to be added to Apple, Google Pay and Samsung Pay digital wallets.
- While this digital connectivity increases convenience, Westerra said it recognizes having a dynamic, physical card in wallets to use during transactions is also important! With this in mind, Westerra is in the middle of rolling out an updated, vertical design for all of its debit and credit cards.
In August 2024, Westerra said it will open a new banking center in Littleton, Colo., to provide exceptional service and modern, convenient financial solutions, and cultivate meaningful connections between staff and members in the southern suburbs.
