Westerly Community Supports Grants for Teachers

WESTERLY, R.I.–Westerly Community Credit Union announced its WCCU Teacher Grant Program will be awarding $7,500 in grants, in values up to $500, for the upcoming 2019/20 school year.

WCCU Teacher Grants are available to local teachers, administrators or staff from the following public school districts: Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Narragansett, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly.

WCCU said it awards the grants annually to support creative and experiential educational projects or programs in the area’s school districts. Special consideration will be given to innovative projects that strengthen the relationship between our schools and the community at large, as well as to projects that support student excellence. All applications will be judged on the following criteria: Educational Focus, Promotion of Skills/Excellence, Creativity/Innovation, Community Connection, and Goal Clarity/Attainability.

“We appreciate the dedication and commitment of local teachers, administration, and staff in educating our area’s youth,” stated Steve White, WCCU president and CEO. ‘We felt this was a way to thank them and show them our support for their innovative ideas to help children succeed.’
