WESTERLY, R.I.–Westerly Community Credit Union has donated $50,000 to South County Hospital’s Campaign for Cancer Care to benefit the Community Cancer Center’s Infusion Center. The $50,000 donation included a check presentation to South County Hospital President & CEO Lou Giancola from Stephen J. White, Westerly Community Credit Union (WCCU) president & CEO. Also present were William Horne, chairman of WCCU’s board, and William Quirk, a director on both the WCCU and VNS Home Health Services Boards.
The Community Cancer Center will move us closer to the interdisciplinary care model used in leading cancer centers nationwide. Patient navigators, physicians, behavioral health specialists, nutritionists, and other care team members will be located just steps away from a fully redesigned chemotherapy infusion center. The Campaign also supports important breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D mammography as well as an upgraded heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system.
“Westerly Community Credit Union is greatly supportive of South County Hospital’s initiative to enhance the quality of its cancer care center, not only for South County residents but for all Rhode Islanders,” said White, “We are very fortunate to have a program of this quality in our community.”
