LAS VEGAS—WestStar Credit Union has introduced a revamped checking account lineup anchored by a new “Radiant Star Checking” product that combines traditional banking features with a range of lifestyle, identity protection and wellness-related benefits.
The credit union said the account is designed to go beyond basic transaction services by bundling features that include local shopping discounts, cellphone protection coverage, identity theft monitoring and restoration services, 24/7 telemedicine access, pet care services and subscription bill negotiation assistance. The account carries a monthly fee of $7.
“Our new checking account lineup goes far beyond basic spending by delivering real benefits that protect, support, and save our members money in ways they may not expect,” President and CEO John Bagents said in a statement. “Radiant Star Checking reflects our commitment to helping members manage not only their finances, but their overall well-being.”
WestStar said the updated checking products are part of its broader effort to offer more personalized and value-added financial services as credit unions increasingly compete with banks and fintech firms for primary financial relationships.
