West Community Credit Union Is Collaborating With Art Teachers From Hazelwood School District

FLORISSANT, Mo.--West Community Credit Union is collaborating with art teachers from four Hazelwood School District elementary schools for their 4th Annual Art Contest.

Fourth and fifth graders from Lawson Elementary, McCurdy Elementary, McNair Elementary, and Coldwater Elementary were invited to submit artwork for this year’s theme, “Adventure.” Students were encouraged to illustrate what “Adventure” meant to them.

All 40 submissions were displayed at West Community’s Florissant branch located at 18 Mullanphy Gardens Shopping Center. Credit union members, family, and friends were invited to visit the branch and vote for their favorite piece.

Nearly 100 votes were received, and a prize was awarded to the winner from each school. The winners were announced at a pizza reception hosted at the credit union on Thursday, May 8th, with students, teachers, family members, and the Mayor of Florissant, Mayor Tim Lowery, in attendance. The presence of Mayor
Lowery was an honor and provided immense support to the young artists, making the event even more special for
them.

The four winners were awarded $50 to open a Kids Savings Account along with a certificate. All participating artists received $10 and a participant certificate.

“I am always impressed by the creativity and talent of the students who participate in this contest. Our members love to see and vote for the artwork every year,” said Devin Cromwell, Florissant Branch Manager. “I look forward to seeing what next year’s art contest brings.
