PASADENA, Calif.–Wescom Credit Union has donated $25,000 to provide continued support to four organizations committed to social justice causes, including A Community of Friends, Social Justice Learning Institute, Chrysalis, and NAACP Legal Defense and Education fund.
“Wescom is committed to being a part of the solution and will also be encouraging its staff to learn about racial justice issues by providing training, educational reading materials and more,” the credit union said.
The four organizations:
- A Community of Friends. As a nonprofit organization that believes in an equitable and just society, A Community of Friends has a mission to serve people who are homeless and have a mental illness.
- Social Justice Learning Institute is dedicated to improving the education, health, and well-being of youth and communities of color by empowering them to enact social change through research, training, and community mobilization.
- Chrysalis is a a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. Their philosophy is that a steady job is a key step in a person’s transition out of poverty and onto a pathway to self-sufficiency.
- NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.
