MIDDLETOWN, Penn./GREENSBORO, N.C.–Vizo Financial Corporate CU challenged its member credit unions to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals through a coin drive competition. All the money was collected through Credit Unions for Kids’ (CU4Kids) Change a Child’s Life coin collection campaign.
Eight credit unions from Vizo Financial’s membership participated in the Change a Child’s Life Coin Drive competition throughout the month of April. To raise the money, each credit union was encouraged to place the signature CU4Kids coin canisters around their branches to collect change from employees and members. The winning credit union would be the one to raise the most money per member.
Wheatland Federal Credit Union in Lancaster, Penn., won the competition, raising $515.11 (eight cents per member) for their local CMN Hospital, Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
In addition to the change collected by the participating credit unions, Vizo Financial raised funds internally through the Change a Child’s Life coin collection campaign. Vizo Financial will continue to raise money in the coin collection campaign through May 31, 2017.
In all, the competing credit unions, as well as the Corporate, raised a grand total of $1,653.96 for various CMN Hospitals in April.
“The Change a Child’s Life Coin Drive Competition is so thrilling because it takes something as small as a penny or a quarter and turns it into equipment or treatment programs, which can be momentous to a child in need of life-saving care,” said Erin Doan, administration and community relations director for Vizo Financial. “In addition to the donations, I also believe this competition shows the credit union movement’s dedication to helping our communities, even if it’s one coin at a time.”
