GREENSBORO, N.C.–Vizo Financial and nine credit unions joined with MIX 101.5’s 25th annual Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital to help raise more than $600,000.
The radiothon is the premier fundraiser for Duke Children’s Hospital, one of the 170 Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals throughout the country. Over the course of two days, the MIX 101.5 crew shared the remarkable stories of past and present patients, while setting daily and hourly challenges for listeners to continue pledging donations. All the money raised will help fund continual improvement of the hospital’s renowned medical and surgical programs.
The following credit unions sponsored the radiothon under the name of Carolinas Credit Unions (contributing $3,850 in donations), and sent a total of six volunteers to assist in the phone bank:

This year’s event raised $604,606.84! In the past 25 years, the radiothon has raised more than $18 million for Duke Children’s Hospital.
“The Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital is a huge deal in the area where our Greensboro office is located, and where many credit unions are based out of, so of course we jumped at the chance to lend our support,” said Erin Doan, administration and community relations director for Vizo Financial. “There’s a power that comes from hearing the patient stories and seeing the donations from listeners roll in as a result of those stories. As credit unions, we wanted to do our part to make sure those stories are heard, and that Duke Children’s Hospital is recognized as a beacon of hope for kids and families in the community.”
