VENTURA COUNTY, Calif.— At the recent Credit Union Cornhole Challenge hosted by Xpress Data Inc. (XDI), Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) won $3,000 to be donated to a charity of the credit union’s choice.
VCCU chose The Foundation of VCCU to receive the donation. The Foundation provides financial assistance to a variety of other nonprofits in the Ventura County community, with a focus on helping the underserved, beautification and preservation of the environment, and the health and well-being of the region.
The tournament was open exclusively to credit unions and included numerous categories in which participants could win money for their chosen charity. VCCU won $1,000 in the Team Spirit category, where participants were judged based on the enthusiasm they showed through cheering, singing, dancing and dressing up. In addition, VCCU won $2,000 in the Shotgun Game category. In this category, participants had to throw a total of 10 beanbags, five at a time, to compete for the highest score.
“This tournament was a great opportunity for us to come together and have fun as a team, while working to raise money for a good cause,” said VCCU’s vice president of marketing, Tina Estes. “The Foundation of VCCU supports so many teriffic nonprofits in our community, and we are thrilled to have earned some additional funds to contribute to the wonderful work they do.”
At the tournament, XDI gave away more than $25,000 in prizes.
