VENTURA, Calif.— Ventura County Credit Union has announced its fourth annual partnership with the Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In November 2016, VCCU donated $2,340.07 to Ribbons of Life through the generous contributions of VCCU members and employees. This year, the credit union hopes to exceed past contributions through the combination of bracelet sales and individual donations from VCCU members and staff.
During October, VCCU staff will make a $10 donation which makes them eligible to wear a pink breast cancer awareness shirt and jeans every Wednesday. Additionally, VCCU will offer breast cancer awareness bracelets and buttons for any donation amount to its members at its eight branches, and 100 percent of proceeds will benefit the local nonprofit organization. They also have large pink paper cutouts to write messages and stick along the teller line.
“We are pleased to be a continuous supporter of Ribbons of Life,” said VCCU’s assistant vice president of marketing, Tina Estes. “VCCU is always looking for ways to engaged with the community, and with Breast Cancer Awareness month, we felt compelled to partner with Ribbons of Life for the fourth year in a row. Our goal is to support Ribbons of Life's mission and raise as much money as possible for such a wonderful organization.”
Ribbons of Life is celebrating its 15th anniversary of providing education, advocacy, emotional and social support of breast cancer in Ventura County. The organization was started in 2002 by three-time breast cancer survivor Lisa Barreto under the name Ventura College Breast Cancer Education and Advocacy Group and in 2007 the organization officially formed as a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
