HONOLULU– The University of Hawai'i Federal Credit Union is helping to recognize the Class of 2020—which is not able to participate in graduation ceremonies—by participating in the #weCUgrads Challenge to help give acknowledgement to local high school and college graduates.
The #weCUgrads Challenge is a national credit union initiative to honor and celebrate 2020 graduates through social media. The hashtag is a way of saying, "We see you, grads!" The goal of the campaign is for credit unions to come together and use the collective exposure to flood social media with positivity during a challenging time in history.
Although the official #weCUgrads effort will focus on the first full week of May, UHFCU has developed a month-long calendar of weekly activities and contests to help shine the spotlight on graduating seniors and all that they have accomplished over the years. Throughout May, graduates will be encouraged to take part in weekly social media challenges for a chance to win one of four $100 Amazon Gift Cards.
"We know how hard our local students have worked to get where they are now, and we are heartbroken they will not be able to participate in typical year-end ceremonies," said Travis Bow, UHFCU president & CEO. "UHFCU is proud to join the #weCUgrads campaign to support our local graduates as they begin the next chapter of their lives."
