University of Hawai'i FCU Names Mahelona as VP-HR

HONOLULU--The $560-million University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union (UHFCU) announced the promotion of AshLee Mahelona to Vice President of Human Resources. In addition to overseeing human resources and employee development, she will also manage UHFCU’s Process Improvement and Operational Training departments as well.

According to the credit union, over the past 10 years that AshLee has been with UHFCU, she has never been afraid to take on new challenges. She was quickly promoted from Senior Teller to Branch Services Manager – overseeing the Branch Services department during the credit union’s expansion from 2 branches to the 4 branches it has today. As Branch Services Manager, she also partnered with Professor Michael Cheang of the University of Hawai`i School of Family & Consumer Science and Kuhio Elementary School to establish the Kids Savings Project.

In 2014, she was promoted to Process Improvement Manager to review, analyze and evaluate business processes and user needs to improve/organize operational procedures and to ensure consistency within the credit union. She leveraged that experience and served as an instrumental resource throughout the recent core conversion project. AshLee is also scheduled to complete the Western CUNA Management School next year.

“AshLee has been an integral part of the success of our credit union.” said Jeanine M. Morse, UHFCU President and CEO. “Having contributed to both front and back office departments, I have no doubt that the experiences she can share with our staff will truly inspire them and have them working more efficiently than ever before.”
