Unity One Credit Union's Alyssa Guillory Wins Young Professional of the Year
PLANO, Texas — Unity One Credit Union in Fort Worth, Texas, has a new award winner on staff. Director of Community and Public Relations Alyssa Guillory was recognized as the Young Professional (YP) Representative of the Year at Cornerstone Credit Union League's recent YP Conference in Dallas.
The purpose of the YP Representative of the Year award is to recognize individuals age 40 and younger who have demonstrated leadership and a passion for making a difference in the credit union movement and who have engaged in the credit union movement as a YP representative of their credit union.
Kathy Jones, branch manager of the $228 million credit union, said in her nomination of Guillory that she's seen first-hand how much pride Guillory takes in serving the credit union and the community.
"It is a personal passion of hers, and she has worked tirelessly to provide education opportunities to teachers and students that may not have been otherwise available," Jones said. "This year to date, Alyssa has spent over 50 hours, including nights and weekends, teaching over 500 area students in grades K-12.”
Guillory started in the credit union industry when she was 20 years old—a junior in college with little knowledge about credit unions. But, Guillory said, she spent the next few years "learning the powerful impacts credit unions make in the lives of their members. It was during those years that I learned not only about the importance of return on marketing investment, but the intangible ROI you receive when helping a member fulfill their dreams. Seeing first-hand how a simple 'yes' or a little financial nudge could help change a member’s life forever changed mine.”
In her current role as the director of community and public relations at Unity One, Guillory can put to work her nine years of technical industry knowledge along with her passion for helping others through community outreach.
