Unitus Community CU Wins Herring Award

PORTLAND, Ore.–Unitus Community Credit Union has earned a second place award in the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award. 

“The impact Unitus has had on the Hispanic community was honored with this award,” the credit union said. “Through intentional efforts ranging from hiring more bilingual and bicultural staff to selecting inclusive community partners, Unitus is focused on reaching members of the community who have been underserved by traditional financial institutions.”

“Congratulations to this year’s winners for the exemplary work done for their communities and the members they serve. These leaders have made it their mission as credit union advocates to promote financial well-being,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “Each winner has demonstrated a passion in helping others, advancing their communities, and making a difference. I applaud their commitment to the credit union movement.”

For the past 13 years, Unitus has been named a “Top 10 Corporate Philanthropist” in the Portland metro area by the Portland Business Journal.
