Unitus Community CU Preparing to Open New Administrative Center

TIGARD, Ore.–Unitus Community Credit Union will open its new Distributed Administrative Network Center on April 29.

The credit union is vacating its current leased location at 1300 SW 6th Avenue in fowntown Portland and transitioning operations to multiple locations, including UBC-Tigard. Unitus said it will welcome employees into the new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 9:00 a.m.

“After more than two years of planning and programming the new facility, we are thrilled to welcome employees to the new Unitus Business Center-Tigard,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union. “We are grateful for the excellent partners who helped build out our new location, taking our ideas and making them a reality. Every aspect of UBC-Tigard was engineered with sustainability in mind.”

Momentum, Inc., which specializes in design-build for credit unions, led the strategy, design, and construction of the new UBC-Tigard.

The company partnered with Unitus leaders to efficiently program the space to include collaboration and focus areas, activity-based spaces, and meeting rooms, all while the building remained open for current tenants.

“UBC-Tigard is strategically located to reduce commute and environmental impacts for Unitus staff,” the credit union said. “The facility is home to five acres of dedicated wetlands to help offset the credit union’s footprint. The building features operational systems that are environmentally friendly and controlled onsite, which will enhance business continuity efforts. UBC-Tigard will better serve Unitus’ operational needs and support remote, hybrid, and in- office work. Staff will also have access to a dedicated outdoor recreation area that will feature pickleball and bocce ball courts.”

Unitus will no longer occupy Unitus Plaza in downtown Portland, effective May 1, 2024. The branch and ATM at that location will close permanently at the close of business on April 30, 2024.

A new Downtown Portland Unitus branch will open at a later date.

“This move addresses the changing needs of our organization and creates long-term value for our membership by reducing overall operating costs,” said Stapp. “We are looking forward to connecting with our new neighbors and community partners as we work out of UBC-Tigard.”
