US Federal Member Wins $500 Scholarship

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — US Federal Credit Union (USFCU) member Nathaniel Anderson of Lakeville, Minn. has been awarded a $500 Traditional Scholarship from the Minnesota Family Involvement Council (FIC). This year the FIC offered $10,000 in college scholarships to credit union members throughout Minnesota. Nearly 700 students applied for the scholarships from credit unions across the state. Applicants were evaluated based on school and community involvement and an essay submission.

The essay question this year was “What is your interpretation of the American Dream and how do you plan to achieve it?” Anderson noted that the American Dream is different for everyone but there is always a chance for anyone to reach their dreams. Personally, to Anderson, his American Dream is to become successful in life. Anderson views success as “getting married, raising my children with good morals and a solid work-ethic, and to make a difference in the workplace and community.” He stated he is going to achieve success by giving everything he can in all situations. By doing this, Anderson is confident he will find happiness and fulfillment of his American Dream.
