ANN ARBOR, Mich.–The University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) has been recognized as a top workplace with two awards by Metro Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by MichBusiness and The Detroit Free Press.
This is UMCU’s third award from Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in Metropolitan Detroit, with honors bestowed in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In addition, UMCU has been honored with a Top Workplaces 2020 award by The Detroit Free Press, making it the fourth time UMCU has been presented with the Top Workplaces award.
The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For program identifies and honors organizations that deliver highly innovative and thoughtful human resource practices, with an impressive dedication to their employees. Companies that distinguish themselves as such are given this honor.
Organizations submitted for Best and Brightest Companies to Work For are assessed based on categories such as communication and shared vision, employee enrichment, engagement and retention, work-life balance, employee education and development, diversity and inclusion, employee achievement and recognition, and community initiatives. UMCU submitted comprehensive business practices to highlight areas including community outreach, employee enrichment, and health and wellness programs.
The Detroit Free Press named UMCU a winner of the Detroit Top Workplaces 2020 Award based solely on employee feedback administered by Energage, LLC. The survey measures multiple aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection.
“We are honored to be recognized by Best and Brightest and The Detroit Free Press. As an organization, our focus is to foster and promote an inclusive, vibrant culture where our team members thrive both personally and professionally. Our team members are the driving force behind UMCU’s success, and we are proud to cultivate an environment that puts them first,” said Candy Keene, UMCU VP-talent development and human resources.
