FORT WASHINGTON, Penn. —TruMark Financial Credit Union said when its employees returned from a recent networking event sponsored by the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, their question was, “What can we do to help?”
The keynote speaker at the event, Laurette McNear, recruiter for the Southeast Regional Office of CONCERN, a non- profit organization specializing in foster care, adoption, and behavioral health services, spoke about the lack of foster care homes available for the large number of children waiting to be placed in Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
“McNear’s presentation was powerful and touched my heart,” said Assistant Vice President of MortgageOrigination Shericka Ball-Friday. “The number of children at risk and in need of housing is daunting.”
She and her co-workers spoke to the credit union’s human resources department and decided the best way they could help was by making a donation.
The credit union earmarked the funds raised from the next Casual Friday in which employees wear jeans in exchange for a donation, for CONCERN, and raised $1,000.
