MIRAMAR, Fla.—Tropical Financial Credit Union here is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Founded with $800 in deposits from 47 members, it initially served employees of Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Miami, and was known as Miami Bell System Employees FCU. Today it has grown to $540-million, with an FOM open to Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
“We are proud of what we have achieved since 1935, but we’re not standing still,” said Richard Helber, president and CEO of Tropical Financial Credit Union. “Every day, we look for new ways to benefit our members.”
