PORTLAND, Maine–Town & Country FCU expanded its “Rock the House” event this year to include a Benefit Kick-Off Concert. The inaugural benefit concert was held at Halo at Thompson’s Point in Portland, and raised an impressive $1,500 for Habitat of Greater Portland.
The Rock the House event was created by the credit union to celebrate home in its many forms, and highlight housing options available in southern Maine.
“In keeping with our housing theme, we felt it was appropriate that our concert, which was new this year, would benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland,” said CEO David Libby. “We are a strong partner of Habitat, including financing 80% of its homes at its current development in Scarborough, and contributing nearly 1,000 hours in volunteer hours to Habitat builds in the past two years. We are really happy with the success of the concert, and look forward to growing this event in future years.
Nearly 150 people attended the concert by Foreigners Journey, known nationally as the ultimate tribute band to iconic bands, Foreigner and Journey. The concert raised $1,500 for Habitat of Greater Portland.
Libby said the credit union “has a strong commitment to helping people financing housing that fits their needs and lifestyle, whether it’s a Tiny Home, a condo, or a traditional home. The definition of ‘home’ varies from individual to individual, and we believe highlighting different options is important.”
