Tower FCU Donates $75K to Food Banks

LAUREL, Md.–To help area food banks meet the increased demand brought on by the COVID-19 crisis, the TowerCares Foundation has donated $75,000 to three local food banks. The Maryland Food Bank in Baltimore, the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, and the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Crownsville, Md. each received $25,000.

“The Foundation, along with Tower Federal Credit Union, is deeply committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” says Richard Stafford, TowerCares president and president/CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union. “TowerCares is making this donation in honor of Tower Federal Credit Union’s 500+ employees, who are ardent supporters of TowerCares, in recognition of the outstanding job they are doing of continuing to serve members’ financial needs in these challenging times.

“The mission of TowerCares is to help children in need as well as brave and heroic individuals and their families who sacrificed while protecting our freedom,” Stafford continued. “The donated funds will help restock depleted food bank shelves and provide assistance for vulnerable children and local families impacted by the pandemic.”

Since its inception in 2016, the TowerCares Foundation has provided more than $800,000 in grants and donations to local charities and scholarships for children in need.
