FERNDALE, Mich. – To help members safely dispose of confidential information, Credit Union ONE hosted a document shredding day at its Good Shepherd Woodhaven branch. More than 3,500 pounds of confidential personal and business documents were shredded and $238 in donations were collected for the Beaumont Children’s Miracle Network during the three-hour event.
The credit union hosts free document shred days throughout the year to encourage awareness and help members securely destroy confidential material to deter potential identity theft and fraud.
“Identity theft is a very real threat, and we try to help our members be proactive in safeguarding their information,” John Kozich, Vice President of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE said, “Providing a free shred day is a safe and convenient way to dispose of sensitive materials and we’re happy to offer this service to our community.”
This event marked the first shredding day at the credit union’s Woodhaven branch, located Downriver, since the merging of Good Shepherd Credit Union with Credit Union ONE on July 1, 2015.
