Tharp Named a Top Business Leader

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Judy Tharp, CEO of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, has been honored by the Triad Business Journal as a top business leader.

The Women in Business Award recognizes the top women business leaders in the Piedmont Triad region whose community and philanthropic accomplishments are as important and influential as their professional ones.

The 16th annual awards ceremony was held at the Greensboro-High Point Airport Marriott and recognized 21 businesswomen, including Tharp.

"A veteran of credit unions dating back 36 years, Tharp brings an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit to her role, embracing technologies and amenities that cater to millennials, but without losing sight of the Piedmont Airlines employees who made up the founding membership," noted the Triad Business Journal.

Tharp began her professional career by founding the Cape Fear Employees Credit Union at 22 years old, and says she still loves her job because it allows her to "enhance the lives of people every single day."  She cites her most impactful volunteer activity as being able to mentor young women.
