Texas Trust Helps Feed the Hungry

ARLINGTON, Texas–Texas Trust Credit Union has donated $25,000 to three charities that provide food for the hungry. The funds will allow the organizations to provide more than 131,000 meals to those in need.

Thanks to the generous donations from its members and employees – and a matching donation from the Texas Trust Gives Foundation – the credit union said it presented checks to the North Texas Food Bank, the East Texas Food Bank in Tyler, and Rust Street Ministries in San Angelo. Each of these charities support people in need in communities where Texas Trust’s members live and work.

“Giving back is what the credit union and the Texas Trust Gives Foundation is about,” said Larry Skinner, chair of the Foundation. “We were able to double what employees and members donated, so that we could increase the overall donation to these worthy causes, which are seeing increased need right now.”

The North Texas Food Bank received more than $20,000 from Texas Trust. The East Texas Food Bank, received more than $2,700. And Rust Street Ministries in San Angelo received $2,300.

“With reports of one in five Texans unsure about their next meal, we hope this money will allow these food banks to increase the number of people they can serve this holiday season,” said Jim Minge, CEO of Texas Trust Credit Union.

Minge presented a check to the North Texas Food Bank at Texas Trust’s headquarters in Arlington. Employees in Athens and San Angelo met with representatives from the East Texas Food Bank and Rust Street Ministries to formally present the donations. A check was delivered to each organization following the presentation.
