ARLINGTON, Texas—The Texas Trust Credit Union Gives Foundation has awarded $70,000 in Community Impact grants to 10 North and Central Texas school districts to provide students with school supplies and other essential resources.
The grants supported programs in the Arlington, Athens, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Lewisville, Mansfield and San Angelo independent school districts. Forty-five Texas Trust employees also volunteered at back-to-school events.
"Helping students start the school year with the necessary resources they need is one of the most tangible ways we can make a difference," said Washima Huq, executive director of the Texas Trust Gives Foundation. "But our impact doesn't stop with financial support. Our employees believe in giving their time and being present in the communities we serve, and we're proud that 45 employees recently volunteered at these back-to-school events to help make a difference for students and their families."
The grants are funding backpacks, supplies, uniforms, shoes, jackets, hygiene products and weekend food assistance. Other programs receiving support provide essentials to refugee and asylum-seeking families, students experiencing hardship and cadets in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford district’s Navy National Defense Cadet Corps/NJROTC program.
