LAKE JACKSON, Texas – TDECU is proud to announce the nomination of their own Kristina Barrow-Booth as an Unsung Hero in the Brazoria County community.
As an Unsung Hero, Kristina will be part of a group of nominees eligible for the Citizen of the Year award, with the winner selected by The Facts’ editorial board and area chamber of commerce representatives. Unsung Heroes and the Citizen of the Year will be honored at a luncheon in August.
Kristina’s dedication has made a remarkable impact to the local, Brazoria County community, most recently in her efforts to assist residents affected by the 2016 flooding. Initially helping out with Samaritan’s Purse, Kristina found an incredible amount of flood victims were asking questions about lost and damaged furniture. Upon discovery of this need, Kristina began working with the Brazoria County Dream Center, Brazoria County Office of Emergency Management, Seventh Day Adventist Disaster Response, FEMA Corps, United Way and teams at TDECU for assistance in putting a furniture drive into place. Kristina’s other civic endeavors include volunteerism efforts with True to Life Ministries, SPCA of Brazoria County, Junior Achievement of Brazoria County, Kidz Harbor, the Port Freeport Take-A-Child Fishing Tournament, United Way, Brazoria County Dream Center, Brazoria County Fair, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Salvation Army, and the Arrow Project.
