LAKE JACKSON, Texas–TDECU–Your Credit Union welcomed more than 114,000 little farmers to Fun on the Farm at the 2019 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Now in its 6th year as presenting sponsor, it took 103 volunteers from TDECU to educate and entertain attendees of the popular event.
A family-friendly attraction designed to be fun, engaging and interactive, Fun on the Farm provides elementary-aged children the opportunity to explore farming as a business. TDECU said a key feature of its engagement at the event is a miniature credit union branch, where TDECU volunteers congratulate the young farmers after depositing their Fun on the Farm dollar from the sale of their harvest. “These young farmers purchase a snack from the general store adjacent to the branch with the other dollar earned, learning the basic financial principals of earn some, spend some & save some,” the credit union said.
Each child who deposited their Fun on the Farm dollar received a packet of sunflower seeds with a $5 coupon to open their first TDECU membership and youth savings account at any TDECU branch location.

Each year more than $14,000,000 in scholarships are awarded during the art and livestock auctions to help fund college educations for local, hardworking youth.
