LAKE JACKSON, Mich.–TDECU – Your Credit Union, was the Hospitality Corral sponsor of the Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, and also sponsored a Women’s Leadership Conference. This year, more than 1,500 students from across the state participated in the competition, 200 of whom were from the Gulf Coast and Crossroads regions.
The Junior Agricultural Mechanics competition provides hands-on experience for students involved with the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation and Future Farmers of America (FFA).
“We are happy to support these young students,” said Lucilla Henderson, Vice President of Community and Business Engagement. “These projects represent and support the future of the farming and ranch industry, and we’re proud to be a part of that.”
Through this competition, the student participants showcased their hard work and expertise in agricultural design and the construction of mechanical projects, such as agricultural machinery and livestock equipment.
Separately, TDECU was this year’s underwriter for the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Women’s Leadership Conference and Business Expo. The annual event sees over 500 people in attendance and strives to recognize and empower female leaders in the region.
TDECU’s Lucilla Henderson, Vice President of Community and Business Engagement, was the sponsor interviewee at the beginning of the event. Connie Clarke, President of TDECU Insurance Agency, LLC, served on the CEO panel during the conference.
“The Leadership Conference seeks to provide women with a platform to set tangible goals, develop a workable blueprint, and put forward a plan to achieve and surpass those goals,” said Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Dr. Laura Murillo. “We hope women – and men – leave this year’s conference feeling empowered to reach new levels of success, both professionally and personally.”
In the Greater Houston area, women-owned businesses generate over $40 billion in annual revenue and account for more than 30% of all businesses in the Houston area.
