TDECU Provides Funds to JA

LAKE JACKSON, Texas–Through two recent donations, TDECU reported it provided a total of $25,000 to two local chapters of Junior Achievement (JA), the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need for economic success.

The donation will educate K-12 students on entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

The first donation provided $20,000 to JA of Southeast Texas  to support programs benefitting more than 900 students at Title I schools across greater Houston, emphasizing the program's target schools Blackshear Elementary, Lockhart Elementary, and Yellowstone Academy. TDECU's donation will support various programs, such as JA K-5 programs, JA Global, JA Economics for Success, JA Career Speakers Series, JA Personal Finance, and JA Excellence through Ethics.

With a $5,000 donation to JA of Brazoria County, TDECU also renewed its sponsorship of “JA in a Day” for Clute Intermediate School in the 2021-2022 school year. The JA in a Day program will provide financial literacy lessons to the school’s nearly 400 students.

"Because Junior Achievement's objectives align so closely with ours, these partnerships create a lot of synergy," said Josh Brian, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. "We always say we're in the business of improving lives, and the same could be said for JA. We're proud to work together to achieve these goals and help our area's children gain financial literacy and work readiness skills, so they are better prepared to realize their full potential."
