Summit CU Event Draws 2,200 People

MADISON, Wis.Summit Credit Union’s ninth annual Co-op Connection next to this city’s farmers’ market attracted more than 2,200 attendees, who took part in the free event that celebrates cooperatives from across the state.

“Co-op Connection is a great moment to educate our neighbors on the importance of cooperatives in their communities,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “We’re glad so many joined us to learn about the ways co-ops impact and invest in their communities while helping to push local economies forward.”

Co-op Connection began as a way to celebrate cooperatives and the economic effect they have on their communities. The gathering not only allows participants to discover and learn about cooperatives in their community, but also provides an opportunity for the co-ops to develop strong and lasting relationships with one another.

This year’s attendees enjoyed a variety of family-fun activities, prize drawings and samples from participating co-ops, Summit CU said.

The event was hosted by Summit Credit Union and sponsored in part by CUNA Mutual Group, UW Center for Cooperatives and Union Cab of Madison, among others. Local participating co-ops included Organic Valley, Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin and Willy Street Co-op.
