Suffolk FCU Supports Food Drive

MEDFORD, N.Y.– Suffolk Federal Credit Union’s annual food drive collected  nearly 650 pounds of non-perishable goods.

Members from Suffolk Federal’s 10 branch locations cleaned out their pantries and took a trip to the grocery store, dropping off everything from soups to pastas and sauces to packaged snacks to make sure those most in need throughout Suffolk County won’t go hungry this winter, the credit union said.

Proceeds from this year’s food drive will benefit Helping Makes U Happy, a nonprofit organization located in Center Moriches which aids the underprivileged in the community. Founded in 2015, Helping Makes U Happy aims to inspire humans to make a difference through volunteering to enrich the lives of not only those less fortunate, but their own lives as well.

“As evidenced by this year’s food drive, it is such a powerful tool when our communities come together to make a difference,” said Ralph D. Spencer, Jr., president & CEO of Suffolk Federal. “Because of our members’ selflessness, so many of our neighbors will now be able to put food on their tables and provide for their families.”

“The credit union and its members are so awesome to have helped us collect food for so many families this holiday season,” said Keith Caputo, Founder of Helping Makes U Happy. “This is an amazing amount of food and will make so many people happy.”

In addition to the monumental food contribution, Suffolk Federal and its members also made a $2,500 donation to Helping Makes U Happy. Donor cards recognizing the act are hung in each of the credit union’s branch locations.
