Suffolk FCU Marking 50th Anniversary with 'Celebrate & Do Good'

SUFFOLK, N.Y.–As part of Suffolk Federal’s 50th anniversary, the credit union is hosting a “Celebrate & Do Good” campaign that is taking place from now through October. For a $5 donation, members will receive a contest raffle ticket with which they can win $500. All donations collected will benefit Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Three branches have completed their monthly contest including West Babylon, Islandia and Commack. Combined, the fundraising total has exceeded $2,850 in donations and continues to grow. Ben Motley—a Suffolk Federal member of more than 37 years and winner of the Commack branch contest was thrilled to receive the winning call from Suffolk Federal.

“I still have butterflies, I never win anything,” said Motley. Also, I didn’t know much about Long Island Cares before I donated at Suffolk Federal. I am proud to know that I was able to support a Long Island food bank.”

Meanwhile, the West Babylon Branch promotion concluded in February raising $1,660 and Islandia’ s membership raised $955 bringing the fundraising total thus far to $2615 in donations.

David Tricamo—a Suffolk Federal member of more than 30 years and winner of the March contest—generously donated his winnings back to Long Island Cares and provided a ‘thank you’ breakfast to the team at his local branch in Islandia.

“This branch in particular has treated me exceptionally well,” said Tricamo of the Islandia team. I just wanted to do something nice for them as well as something nice for other people in the community that are not as fortunate as myself. I wanted to give back and this was the perfect opportunity.”

Finally, Suffolk FCU has identified nonprofits to provide financial support. In Riverhead, Branch Manager Debra Castro presents a $1,000 contribution to the Flanders, Riverside & Northampton Community Association (FRNCA).

“As a member of FRNCAs networking group, we’re always looking for ways we can extend our support. Contributing to their scholarship fund was the perfect answer,” said Debra Castro, Riverhead Branch Manager, Suffolk Federal. “I’m continuously impressed with the effort that this group puts forth to bring the community together. Aside from their scholarship fund, they host fundraisers, sporting events, food, toy and clothing drives and so much more. We’re proud to be a part of an organization like that.”
