Suffolk FCU Contributes to Head Start Program

SUFFOLK, N.Y.– Suffolk Federal recently jointly with the Flanders, Riverside, North Hampton Civic

Association (FRNCA), Riverside Rediscovered, Truth Community Church, and The Women of the Moose Riverhead Chapter who contributed pre-school supplies to the Southampton Head Start program in Riverside.

The Head Start Program is a program of the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income and at-risk children and their families.

Southampton Head Start has more than 100 children currently enrolled and attending the day care program daily. Children are provided meals each day and regularly return home with the necessary food staples to assist their family throughout the weekend. The donation of school supplies will allow the program to utilize more of their resources for groceries, books and other classroom supplies.

“As a member of FRNCAs networking group, I’m continuously impressed with the effort that this group puts forth to bring the community together,” said Debra Castro, Riverhead Branch Manager.
