Suffolk CU Presents FHLB Grant to Suffolk AME Cares Foundation

BOHEMIA, N.Y.–Suffolk Credit Union presented a Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) Small Business Recovery Grant to the Suffolk AME Cares Foundation.

The presentation took place at the foundation’s headquarters in Bohemia.

"On behalf of the entire executive board of the Suffolk AME Cares Foundation (AME Cares), I am deeply grateful to accept this extremely generous grant of $10,000 from Laura Racioppi, vice president of corporate and community partnerships at the Suffolk Credit Union, along with her entire leadership team,” said Suffolk AME President Daniel C. Levler in a statement. “This significant contribution will help AME Cares fulfill its core mission to give back to many local communities throughout Suffolk County.

“Like the Suffolk Credit Union, AME Cares is deeply invested in improving the lives of our friends and neighbors throughout every community in Suffolk County. AME Cares is also dedicated to empowering Suffolk AME members, who provide essential services throughout our county every day, by helping them volunteer and give back to their local communities and support causes they care deeply about. With the assistance of our friends from the Suffolk Credit Union, AME Cares will continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of both our members and the communities in which they serve. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Suffolk Credit Union in the years ahead and lifting up those who need our support the most."

Added SCU CEO Michele Dean, “We are deeply gratified to help AME Cares continue and expand the outstanding support it provides on so many levels. The organization’s initiatives make Suffolk County a better place for the entire community.” She added, “We are also honored to work with Suffolk AME members, who provide the essential services that ensure our health, safety, and well-being.”

The credit union said one of the notable initiatives that the Suffolk AME Cares Foundation supports is the Serenity Gardens, a first-of-its-kind park, specifically designed for individuals with special needs. Once it is fully developed, the park will support people who are visually and/or hearing impaired, on the autism spectrum, or suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Seniors, veterans, and the general public will also have access to the park's resources.

Additionally, the AME Cares Foundation is proud to support Suffolk AME members, who have dedicated their entire careers to providing essential government services to 1.6 million people, who reside in Suffolk County.
